Data monitoring, alerting and remote access

control4log

The control4log device is a data logger and offers the possibilty of configuring the device with TCP/IP or USB stick, reading out the values stored with TCP/IP or USB stick, querying current values with TCP/IP, sending e-mail alerts concerning digital and analogue limit values, and relaying USB connections over the Internet.

    The virtual USB (vUSB) enables the remote download of files or data logs from existing controllers as well as the creation and download of backups, upload and installation of software and firmware and the possibility of remote software updates.

    A dedicated video server is available via the control4log. It supports both live streaming of video data as well as the storage and management of recordings. Data can be stored on HDD, SSD, NAS, or server systems flexibly adaptable to specific requirements.

    The x4l system provides an audit trail with GMPSS, which can be optionally enabled or disabled. When active, GMPSS logs the user ID, login activities, and all parameter changes (before/after), while also documenting system failures. This ensures a GMP-compliant audit trail.

Information is collected from different data sources and stored in one or more databases to make them available in a simple and multifunctional way. Based on the resulting historical data, all the analyses can be carried out. This data can be a revenue in the form of new insights, quality assurance and the development of new business models.

Remote access

The vpn4log device is a VPN gateway and offers the option of using the remote2control software to control USB connections over the Internet.

    Terminal devices or controls that have their own programming software can be easily and simply made "Internet" compatible via USB or serial interfaces. Secure remote maintenance via the Internet is therefore possible on these devices.

    The vpn4log can be configured either locally, via a USB stick, or via TCP/IP. The remote2control software can be used to configure the device via TCP/IP.

The rut4log "Europa" and "Global" devices function as VPN gateways and enable secure VPN tunneling over the Internet for remote access to controllers.

web4log

The web4log software offers a simple and cost-effective solution for a secure, fast m2m cloud solution.

With the web4log software, data points can automatically be requested, monitored, stored and processed from the control4log or other controllers via the Internet or in a local network. The software is subject to the permissive MIT open-source licence and can be obtained from info@techdock.ch. The software is written in PHP and can therefore run directly or as a docker container at a server or NAS. The software requires a database to store the data and settings. In order to use VPN connections, an additional OpenVPN server has to be provided.

    The collected historical data enables a better understanding of the behaviour of a device, plant or machine over a long period of time or simply to monitor it. This, for example, makes it possible, to detect faults or problems in devices, systems and machines at an early stage.

    With browser-based open-source solutions such as Grafana, Graphite or others, the stored data in the database can easily be visualized. In this way, a modern visualization system is possible even for small projects with limited resources.

    With the control4log or web4log, alarming by e-mail can be set up on each data point. This is possible on each sensor and actuator value at the device control4log. Alarming e-mail can be set up on individual data points, created requests and aggregated data points in the m2m cloud web4log.

  • Maintenance

    Maintenance

    The Maintenance department receives warnings and initiates the necessary action before a device, system or machine fails. In the case of a breakdown, an alarm e-mail is sent to the maintenance department and a first check remote monitoring can be executed immediately. This saves time and costs and significantly increases the availability of the connected devices, plants and machines.

Log, monitoring and reporting solution

    The current values of sensors and actuators can be stored locally on the device itself and in the database, depending on the requirements. The current values and stored data can be requested from the device via an open TCP/IP protocol if required. The MIT licensing enables the further development of solutions or the connection to further systems.

  • web4log

    The m2m Cloud collects current values from the control4log or controllers via an open TCP/IP protocol using SSH or VPN and stores them in the database. The data points can be aggregated in a simplified form in the m2m cloud to new data points such as "Total hours of all plants". By setting thresholds, it is possible to be alerted via m2m Cloud, as well as creating reports for one device or for device groups.
